Men’s Basketball starts off season 1-2 on the road

The Carlow University men’s basketball team started its season off on the road with an 88-71 win over Bryant and Stratton (0-2) on Nov. 4.

The Celtics (1-2, 0-0 RSC, 1-1 USCAA) concluded their New York road trip at Villa Maria College on Nov. 5.

The Vikings (3-0) bested the Celtics, 99-75.

Senior Tony Acrie (Johnstown, Pa.) picked up a double-double, scoring 25 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Junior Rece Henneman (Clarksville, Pa.) added 15 points in the effort.

The Vikings shot 52 percent from the field and 40 percent from the three point line.

Carlow traveled to Saint Vincent Nov. 9 and came home with a 97-70 loss. The Bearcats (1-0) went into the locker room at halftime with a 45-23 lead that the Celtics could not recoup.

Junior Brenlee Reedy (Linville, Va.) scored 22 points, but the Bearcats’ defense shut down the rest of the Carlow scorers.

Acrie pulled down nine boards, but the Celtics only shot 34.8 percent from the field.
