PITTSBURGH -- Carlow University women’s soccer lost its first River States Conference game, 1-0, to Asbury (Ky.) University on Oct. 18 at Highmark Stadium.

Carlow (7-5-1, 5-1-1 RSC, 3-0 USCAA) was the only team remaining in the RSC without a conference loss coming into the game. They now join Asbury (7-6, 4-1 RSC) and Point Park University, who each have one loss in conference action.

The Eagles scored in the 37th minute on a free kick. Carlow could not clear the ball, and Asbury scored off the rebound.

The Celtics held the Eagles scoreless the remainder of the game, but could not put in a goal of their own.

Asbury had only two shots on goal, and sophomore goalkeeper Paige Schindehette (Bethel Park, Pa.) made one save in the complete game effort.

Carlow out-shot the Eagles, 12-9, and held a 3-0 corner kick advantage, but could not convert the scoring opportunities into goals.

The Celtics host Midway (Ky.) University Saturday, Oct. 20 for an RSC game at Ambrose Urbanic Field in the Petersen Sports Complex on the University of Pittsburgh campus. Game time is set for 4 p.m.

The venue change is due to a Pittsburgh Riverhounds USL playoff game at Highmark Stadium that evening.
