Men’s Soccer defeated by crosstown rival Point Park in RSC contest

PITTSBURGH -- Carlow University men’s soccer lost a tough River States Conference contest, 7-1, against Point Park University, Thursday, Oct. 11 at Highmark Stadium.

The Pioneers (7-4-1, 3-2-1 RSC) scored in the ninth and 12th minutes to jump ahead, 2-0, and added another goal just seconds before halftime to lead, 3-0, over the Celtics (3-9, 0-6 RSC, 2-2 USCAA).

Point Park added another goal in the 49th minute, and two more back to back at 54’ and 55’ to lead 6-0.

A penalty kick extended the lead to 7-0 in the 87th minute.

Janvier Ramson (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored within the last minute of the game, but the Celtics ran out of time and ended up on the losing end of the game, 7-1.

Point Park held a 7-0 corner kick advantage, and out-shot the Celtics, 24-19.

Goalkeeper Wyatt Schueler (SO/Pittsburgh, Pa.) stopped seven shots in a complete game effort.

Carlow travels to Washington Adventist University, Monday, Oct. 15 for a 7:30 p.m. USCAA game.
