Volleyball goes 0-2 during conference weekend road trip

Carlow University volleyball went 0-2 during a River States Conference road trip this weekend against the West Virginia University Institute of Technology and the University of Rio Grande (Ohio) Friday, Oct. 5 and Saturday, Oct. 6.

The Celtics (6-12, 1-5 RSC, 5-3 USCAA) faced WVU Tech on Friday, Oct. 5 and lost, 3-0.

The Golden Bears (20-6, 4-3 RSC) handled the Celtics easily with scores of 25-11, 25-16 and 25-15.

Senior Michaela Koran (North Olmsted, Ohio) had eight kills, five digs and five assists in the effort.

Freshman Jenna Albert (Monongahela, Pa.) put up 15 assists, and Mariah Lomire (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) added 11 digs.

On Saturday, the Celtics faced another RSC opponent – the Rio Grande Red Storm (6-14, 2-5 RSC).

Carlow lost, 3-0, but almost made a comeback in the third set. The final scores of each match were 25-14, 25-18 and 25-22.

Cache Street (SO/Wilmerding, Pa.) added seven kills, Albert put up 10 assists and senior Mandy Toman (Beulah, Colo.) added 13 digs in the effort.

The Celtics continue in RSC action with another road trip to Indiana University East and Ohio Christian University on Oct. 12 and 13.
