PITTSBURGH – The Carlow University women’s soccer team extended its conference winning streak to four with a 1-0 win over the University of Rio Grande (Ohio) Saturday, Sept. 29 at Highmark Stadium.

The Celtics (4-4, 4-0 RSC, 1-0 USCAA) edged out a win over the Red Storm (3-6-1, 1-2 RSC) to remain unbeaten in conference action.

Carlow is one of only three teams in the River States Conference without a loss in conference play. The other two teams are Point Park University (3-0) and Ohio Christian University (2-0). The Celtics face both teams the second week of October.

Junior Alexa Schwab (Conway, Pa.) scored the game-winning goal in the 38th minute. Her shot outside of the 18 sailed over the goalkeeper’s head and into the top left corner of the net.

Goalkeeper Paige Schindehette (SO/Bethel Park, Pa.) made three saves in a complete game in the net.

Carlow’s defense has not allowed a single goal in the past four games, out-scoring opponents 13-0.

The Celtics host Washington Adventist University for a USCAA match on Oct. 1 at 5 p.m. at Highmark Stadium.
