Men’s Soccer falls to (RV) WVU Tech in RSC action

PITTSBURGH --- The Carlow University men’s soccer team lost, 6-0, to (RV) West Virginia University Institute of Technology Thursday, Sept. 27 in a River States Conference game at Highmark Stadium.

The defending RSC Champion Golden Bears (8-0-3, 2-0 RSC) remained undefeated, out-shooting the Celtics (3-4, 0-3 RSC, 2-0 USCAA) 22-6.

WVU Tech scored two goals off corner kicks, having 14 opportunities in the game to do so. Carlow had one corner kick the entire game.

WVU Tech scored back to back goals at 10’ and 12’, giving them an early 2-0 lead.

The Golden Bears added another at 25’ to head into the locker room at halftime with a 3-0 lead.

Junior goalkeeper Adam Myers (McKeesport, Pa.) stopped 10 shots, coming up with a huge save on a penalty kick in the 39th minute.

WVU Tech added another goal in the 48th minute to make the score 4-0, and two penalty kicks at 70’ and 85’ sealed the deal.

The Celtics host No. 9-ranked University of Rio Grande (Ohio) Saturday, Sept. 29 for a 1 p.m. RSC match at Highmark Stadium.
