Women’s Soccer nets eight goals against Cincinnati Christian

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Carlow University women’s soccer senior Kristina Wallace scored a hat trick en route to an 8-0 win over Cincinnati Christian University Thursday, Sept. 20.

It was Carlow’s first River States Conference matchup and first win of the season over the Eagles (0-8, 0-1 RSC).

The Celtics (1-4, 1-0 RSC, 0-0 USCAA) put up two goals within the first six minutes of action. Alexa Schwab (JR/Conway, Pa.) scored unassisted in the fourth minute and dished out an assist to teammate Wallace less than two minutes later to put Carlow on the board, 2-0.

Freshman Allison McLaughlin (McKeesport, Pa.) scored unassisted at the 29’ mark to make the score, 3-0, and Abigail Marinucci (FR/ McKeesport, Pa.) served up a pass for Michaela Pry (FR/ Monongahela, Pa.) just before the half to send Carlow into the locker room with a 4-0 lead.

The scoring did not stop in the second half, when Lexie Houk (JR/ Racine, Pa.) fed freshman Gabby Adams (Carrboro, N.C.) a pass within the first minute of action.

Ahead 5-0, the Celtics did not let up.

Wallace scored two goals within two minutes to complete her hat trick in the 67th minute on passes from Houk and Rachel Flory (JR/ Huntington Beach, Calif.).

Schwab capped the score at 8-0 in the 72nd minute off a pass from Pry.

Goalkeeper Paige Schindehette (SO/ Bethel Park, Pa.) stopped two shots on goal for the Celtics in 68 minutes of play, and Lauren Forte (FR/ Johnstown, Pa.) put 22 minutes in goal, adding one save.

Carlow out-shot the Eagles 22-8.

The Celtics travel to Brescia (Ky.) University for a 1:30 p.m. RSC game on Saturday, Sept. 22.
