Stroebel paces Celtics in collegiate debut at Saint Vincent

The Carlow men's cross country team opened the season at the Saint Vincent College Early Bird Invitational on Friday, Aug. 31.

Ethan Stroebel (FR/New Castle, Pa.) led the Celtics in his collegiate debut. He finished 10th, with a time of 31:18.72 for a pace of 6:15 in the 8K race.

Saint Vincent swept the first nine places, topped by Eli Urban, who ran 28:53.73.

Saint Vincent scored 15 points with an average time of 29:18.18. Carlow scored 50 points with an average time of 34:58.23. Westmoreland County Community College rounded out the field, but had just three runners and no team score.

The rest of Carlow’s finishers were Christopher Woodley (SR/Northern Cambria, Pa.) at 12th in 32.47.95, Kevin Sheehan (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) at 13th in 34:52.43, Joey Palmieri (SO/PIttsburgh, Pa.) at 15th in 37:21.92, Evan Antes (FR/North Versailles, Pa.) at 16th in 38:26.40, Michael Randal (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) at 17th in 38:39.65, and Cameron Short (SO/West Mifflin, Pa.) at 18th in 39:57.90.

The Celtics will be familiar with the course for their next meet. They return for the Saint Vincent College Invitational on Sept. 15.
