Stroud named USCAA Pitcher of the Week for April 24

Carlow sophomore Abby Stroud has been named the USCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week for April 24.

Stroud made six appearances in the circle, posting a 2-1 record. She led the Celtics to a 6-2 victory against WVU Tech and a 1-0 win against Brescia.

The New Egypt, N.J. native struck out eight, while scattering seven hits and two runs against the Golden Bears.

Against the Bearcats, Stroud fired a three-hit shutout and retired 13 straight batters after allowing two hits in the first inning. She struck out four and walked one in the contest.

Her lone loss of the week was a strong performance against (RV) University of Rio Grande, in which she allowed just one run on four hits while striking out four.

Stroud’s season record now stands at 11-5 with a 1.99 ERA and 67 opponent strikeouts.
