The Carlow University track and field team competed Thursday, April 19, at the Slippery Rock University Open.
The meet featured regional competition from the NCAA Division I, II and III ranks. Results were affected by frigid temperatures and strong winds, but several Celtics managed strong performances.
Olivia Miller (FR/Bolivar) had two top-10 finishes for the Celtics’ women. She took second of six athletes in the triple jump, with a mark of 10.55. She also finished ninth of 17 athletes in the long jump, with a leap of 4.67.
In the 1,500-meter run, Larissa Kijowski (FR/Dayton, Pa.) ran 5:11.98 for a third-place finish and Clare Brown (JR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) (pictured above) ran 5:23.74 to finish ninth of 30 runners.
Evan Bopp (FR/Ebensburg, Pa.) had Carlow’s top finish on the men’s side, finishing 12th of 21 athletes in the javelin throw, with a 38.42-meter mark.
Matthew Cannon (FR/Monongahela, Pa.) ran 12:32 to finish 12th of 14 runners in the 100-meter dash.
The Celtics next compete April 27 at the River States Conference Championship, at Robert Morris University.
