The Carlow track and field team competed at the Bethany Invitational on Saturday, March 31, at Bethany (W.Va.) College.
Larissa Kijowski (FR/Dayton, Pa.) led the women’s team, with a third place finish in the 1,500-meter run. She ran 5:06.13 to finish behind only Point Park’s Anna Shields (4:21.71) and Waynesburg’s Angie Marchetti (4:58.10) in the field of 28 runners.
Kijowski also contributed to a fourth-place finish for the Celtics in the 4x400-meter relay. The group of Kijowski, Chanel Sparks (SR/Columbia, Md.), Leanne Glaub (JR/West Seneca, N.Y.), Gabrielle Kluger (JR/Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) ran a time of 4:29.33.
Other top 10 finishes for the Carlow women belonged to Kluger, Olivia Miller (FR/Bolivar, Pa.), and Amanda Espy (FR/Oil City, Pa.). Miller took fifth in the triple jump, leaping 10.04 meters. Espy placed sixth in the 5000-meter run, with a time of 20:42.85. Kluger was 10th in the 400-meter dash, running 69.48.
Evan Bopp (FR/Ebensburg, Pa.) was Carlow’s top performer on the men’s side. He placed eighth in the javelin throw, with a mark of 41.12 meters.
He also ran a leg of the Celtics’ ninth-place 4x400-meter relay. The group of Bopp, Christopher Woodley (JR/Northern Cambria, Pa.), Cameron Short (FR/West Mifflin, Pa.), and Matthew Cannon (FR/Monongahela, Pa.) ran 3:40.07.
