The Carlow women’s basketball team defeated Cincinnati Christian, 59-51, on the road Feb. 10.
Two Celtics posted double doubles in the contest. Emma Stille (SO/Columbus, Ohio) tallied 14 points, 14 rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Noelle Vallimont (SR/Erie, Pa.) had 12 points, 14 boards, three assists, and two steals.
Alexis Yanief (SR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) led all scorers with 15 points.
The Celtics (10-13/5-9/5-2) fell behind, 11-8, in the first quarter, but put together a big second quarter to take a 26-24 lead by halftime. They extended their advantage to 40-32 in the third quarter, and held on down the stretch.
Carlow dominated the Eagles (7-16/1-11) on the boards, out-rebounding them, 47-28.
The Celtics shot 33.3 percent (18-of-54) from the field, 23.1 percent (3-of-13) from 3, and 58.8 percent (20-of-34) from the free-throw line. CCU shot 29.3 percent (17-of-58) from the floor, 27.3 percent (6-of-22) from 3, and 57.9 percent (11-of-19) from the foul line.
For CCU, Dan’Shae Hill had 14 points and Bryanna Bransford and Makenzie Tolson added 10 points apiece.
The Celtics next play Tuesday, Feb. 13 at WVU Tech.
