The Carlow women’s basketball team dropped a River States Conference matchup on the road to WVU Tech, 66-43.
The Golden Bears (17-12/11-5) picked up their second win of the season against the Celtics (10-14/5-10/5-3) after edging Carlow, 61-60, in Pittsburgh, on Nov. 29.
This time, WVU Tech led, 14-7, after the first quarter, but the Celtics kept it close, trailing, 26-21, at halftime.
However, the Golden Bears opened the second half with a 10-0 run to take a 36-21 lead at the 6:39 mark in the third quarter. WVU Tech led, 42-26, by the end of the third quarter and went on to hold their biggest advantage at the end of the contest.
Carlow guard Delaney Daly (SO/Pittsburgh, Pa.) led all scorers with 11 points. Emma Stille (SO/Columbus, Ohio) tallied nine points and 14 rebounds.
WVU Tech got 10 points apiece from Brittney Justice and Whittney Justice. Katelyn Byrd led the Golden Bears on the boards with seven rebounds.
The Celtics out-rebounded the Golden Bears, 41-36. However, they had 25 turnovers while WVU Tech had 15.
Carlow also struggled shooting, hitting 31 percent (18-of-58) from the floor, 12.5 percent (2-of-16) from 3, and 50 percent (5-of-10) from the foul line.
WVU Tech hit 42.6 percent (26-of-61) of its shots from the floor, 30.8 percent (8-of-26) from 3, and 85.7 percent (6-of-7) from the free-throw line.
The Celtics next travel to (RV) IU East on Thursday, Feb. 15.
