Thrower leads Celtics at SPIRE meet

Freshman Tajanique Thrower led the Carlow women’s track and field team at the SPIRE Mid West Indoor Track and Field Open, in Geneva, Ohio, on Saturday, Jan. 27.

Thrower, a native of Erie, Pa. finished 12th out of 46 athletes in the long jump, with a leap of 16’4.5”. She narrowly missed making the top 10 to qualify for the finals in the event.

Other highlights for the Carlow women's team included strong outings by Olivia Miller (FR/Bolivar, Pa.), Clare Brown (JR/Pittsburgh, Pa.), and Leanne Glaub (JR/West Seneca, N.Y.).

Miller hit 10.01 meters in the triple jump to finish 18th out of 31 competitors.

Brown finished 35th of 76 runners in the seeded 3,000-meter run, with a time of 11:09.87.

Glaub ran 2:35.54 in the 800-meter run to finish 36th out of 56 competitors.

The Celtics next compete at the River States Conference Championship on Feb. 9.
