The Carlow men's basketball team lost, 101-60, to NCAA Division II No. 14 Wheeling Jesuit on the road Tuesday, Dec. 19.
It was the seventh of eight NCAA Division II matchups on Carlow's schedule this season. The Celtics wrap up their tough non-conference slate at home Dec. 30 against Tiffin University, before the jumping into the bulk of their River States Conference games.
Carlow (1-10/1-2/0-1) was led by Charlie Scharbo (SR/Jefferson Hills, Pa.), with 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. Ryan Jackson (JR/Baltimore, Md.) added 10 points and three assists, and Tony Acrie (JR/Johnstown, Pa.) had nine points and 10 rebounds.
The Cardinals (9-2), who played an exhibition game against NCAA Division I No. 11 WVU on Saturday, led from the start and had a 53-25 advantage by halftime. They dominated the boards, out-rebounding Carlow, 51-36. They also shot 50.6 percent (39-77) from the field and had four players score in double figures.
Haygood Highsmith posted 19 points and 12 rebounds and Jeremiah Wilson added 13 points and 13 rebounds for the Cardinals. Preston Boswell scored 16 points and Ryan Cooper had 15.
