The Carlow volleyball team fell to St. Mary-of-the-Woods in the USCAA National Championship Tournament Quarterfinals, on Friday, Nov. 10, at Virginia Beach.
The Pomeroys, who went 4-0 in pool play, swept the Celtics, 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-10) to advance to the semifinals.
Kristina Hudock (SR/Uniontown, Pa.) paced Carlow with eight kills and four digs. Mia Marmion (SR/Upper St. Clair, Pa.) posted 10 digs and Michaela Koran (JR/North Olmsted, Ohio) had 16 assists.
The loss ended Carlow’s season with an 11-24 overall record, a 3-13 River States Conference record and a 7-7 USCAA record.
It also ended the careers of five seniors - Hudock, Marmion, Koran, Elizabeth Stadelman (SR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Sabrina Morosky (SR/Greensburg, Pa.).
The group helped Carlow to four USCAA National Championship Tournaments and all five have been named to the RSC Scholar-Athlete Team and the USCAA All-Academic Team. Hudock and Marmion have been four-year starters, while Marmion and Kaminski have served as team captains.
