The Carlow men’s cross country team wrapped up its 2017 season at the River States Conference Championship, on Saturday, Nov. 4, at Asbury University.
Christopher Woodley (JR/Northern Cambria, Pa.) led the Celtics with a time of 29:40.5, for an average mile time of 5:58.2, in the 8K race. He finished 32nd in the field of 99 runners from 12 RSC institutions. He was also selected as Carlow's representative to the RSC Champions of Character team.
Ohio Christian won the team title, with a total time of 2:20.13 and an average individual time of 28:03. Point Park came in second, and will join the Trailblazers in competing at the NAIA National Championships. Robert Jones, of WVU Tech, was the individual winner, with a time of 27:08.
The Celtics finished 11th overall, with a total time of 2:54.48 and an average time of 34:58.
Jeffrey Amorose (SO/Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished in the 54th position for Carlow, running 30:54. Also for the Celtics, Joseph Palmieri (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished 87th in 35:16.9, Matthew Cannon (FR/Monongahela, Pa.) was 95th in 38:54.6, and Chandler Stockwell (JR/Richland, Mich.) was 97th in 40:01.8.
All the Carlow runners will be back in action soon, competing for the Celtics’ indoor and outdoor inaugural track and field team.
