Carlow freshman Amanda Espy, of Oil City, Pa., finished 11th of 87 runners at the Lock Haven Go Fast River Run, on Saturday, Oct. 28.
Espy ran 24:16.2 in the 6K race, for an average mile of 6:30.5.
Each of the six teams competing besides Carlow were NCAA Division II schools. The Celtics finished behind the Penn State club team, East Stroudsburg, Clarion, Lock Haven, and Indiana University of Pa.
The Penn State club team posted a total time of 1:55.58, an average time of 23:11 and a score of 19 in its victory. Jenna Lezanic, an unattached runner, won the race with a time of 21:40.8, for an average mile of 5:48.9.
Carlow’s top seven runners posted a total time of 2:13.11, an average time of 26:38, and a score of 143.
Larissa Kijowski (FR/Dayton, Pa.) was Carlow’s next finisher after Espy, crossing the line in the 37th spot with a time of 26:14.7, for an average of 7:02.3 per mile.
Rounding out the top seven finishers for Carlow were Leanne Glaub (JR/West Seneca, N.Y.), who ran 27.05.4; Hannah Thornton (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.), who ran 27:23.7; Olivia Miller (FR/Bolivar, Pa.), who ran 28:11.5; Lea Chwilka (SR/Coraopolis, Pa.), who ran 28:11.8; and Janika Hutton (Monongahela, Pa.), who ran 29:13.6.
The Celtics now have a week of preparation for the postseason. They are slated to compete in the River States Conference Championships on Nov. 4, at Asbury.
