The Carlow men’s soccer team lost to the third-ranked team in the NAIA on Friday, Oct. 20, at Highmark Stadium.
The University of Rio Grande defeated the Celtics, 11-0, to move their record to 11-1-1 overall and 5-0-1 in River States Conference play.
Samuel Pederson led Rio Grande with a hat trick, and Isaiah Chapman and Omar Walcott each had two goals. Spencer Reinford, Silas Machado, Eduardo Zurita and Ewan McLaughlan had one goal apiece.
Harry Reilly and Tim Adam Tuomikoski each had a pair of assists. Reinford, Walcott, Chapman, Benjamin Andoh and Callum Malanaphy each had one assist.
The RedStorm took 52 shots and put 40 of them on goal. Eddie Scott (FR/McKeesport, Pa.) made 29 saves in goal for the Celtics, who could not get any shots.
Matheus Morgan and Trevor Coriell each played a half in goal for Rio Grande.
The Celtics have a quick turnaround, traveling to WVU Tech for a 4pm match tomorrow.
