Zack Taylor (SR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) made six saves in goal and scored a goal for the Carlow men’s soccer team Friday, Oct. 6, but the Celtics fell to Brescia, 4-1, at Highmark Stadium.

Taylor, who started the game in goal for the Celtics (0-9-1/0-3/0-1-1), made six saves in the first 28 minutes before coming out of the game with an injury. Wyatt Schueler (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) stepped up to replace him in goal and finished the match with 10 saves.

The contest was evenly matched and scoreless for the first 36 minutes, before Fabian Torres came off the bench and netted Brescia’s first goal to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead at halftime.

After receiving treatment, Taylor returned to the contest at the forward position. He scored Carlow’s goal, its first since the season opener, in the 49th minute, to tie the game at 1-1. Nabin Kadariya (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) played the ball in to Taylor on one of his two corner kicks of the night.

But Brescia's Marin Murillo scored the first of his two goals on the night for the game-winner moments later. Ricardo Majano scored in the 68th minute and Murillo earned his second in the 79th.

Brescia goalkeeper Jacob Stanley made five saves.

The Celtics host Midway (Ky.) University, at 6:30pm Sunday, Oct. 8.
