Abt ties for second at CMU Fall Shootout

Natalie Abt tied for second place at the Carnegie Mellon University Fall Shootout on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 16-17.

The sophomore from Glenshaw, Pa. shot a 75 the first day and an 85 the second day for a total of 160 on the par-72, 5662-yard course at The Links at Spring Church.

Abt and Samantha Stefanik (Apollo, Pa.) represented Carlow as individuals at the nine team invitational.

Abt held a seven stroke lead on the field after the first day, but Kayla Orr, of Allegheny, had a strong second day, shooting a 75 to narrowly claim the victory with a 159. Emmy Timberlake, of Dennison, tied with Abt with a score of 160.

Denison was the first place team, shooting a 656. Allegheny finished second, at 668.

The Celtics return to action Sept. 30 when they take on Waynesburg University, at Cedarbook Golf Course, in Belle Vernon, Pa.
