Celtics win Penn State Beaver Tip Off Tournament Championship

The Carlow volleyball team went 3-0 to win the Penn State Beaver Tip Off Tournament on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 1-2.

Outside hitter Kristina Hudock (SR/Uniontown, Pa.) was named the tournament MVP and setter Michaela Koran (JR/North Olmsted, Ohio) was also selected to the all-tournament team.

The Celtics (3-4, 0-0 RSC, 3-0 USCAA) defeated Rochester College (Mich.), 3-1, in the tournament championship on Saturday afternoon. The Celtics won the hard-fought match, 25-18, 20-25, 25-17, 31-29.

They started the tournament with wins against University of Maine at Fort Kent, 3-1 (25-17, 22-25, 25-14, 25-18) and Christendom College (Va.), 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-16) on Friday.

Hudock tallied 37 kills, 27 digs and four serving aces. Koran recorded 89 assists, 15 kills, 10 digs, and four aces.

Middle hitter Elizabeth Stadelman (SR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) had three solo blocks, five block assists and 22 kills. Outside hitter Kassidy Dickson (JR/Cochranton, Pa.) added 34 kills, three aces and three assists.

The Celtics next play Sept. 8 at Kent State University Tuscarawas.
