The Carlow men's cross country team opened its season with a third-place finish at the Saint Vincent College Early Bird Invitational on Friday, Sept. 1.
Chris Woodley (JR/Northern Cambria, Pa.) led the Celtics with a ninth-place finish in a time of 31:00.533 in the 8K race. Carlow scored 76 points, with an average time of 35:56.07.
Saint Vincent was the team winner, scoring 20 points with an average time of 28:37.33. Westmoreland County Community College finished second, with 61 points. University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg rounded out the field in fourth place, scoring 84 points.
Jordan Stack, of WCC, was the individual winner, with a time of 27:58.107
Other scorers for Carlow were Jeff Amorose (SO/Pittsburgh, Pa.) in 21st (31:09.793), Joseph Palmer (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) in 25th (35:41.510), Chandler Stockwell (JR/Richland, Mich.) in 32nd (40:51.007), and Anton Sarazen (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) in 33rd (40:57.540).
The Celtics next run at the Penn State Greater Allegheny Invitational on Sept. 16, at 10am.
