The Carlow tennis team swept Ohio Christian, 9-0, in a River States Conference match Friday afternoon at the Greensburg Racquet Club. The Celtics evened up their overall record at 2-2 and improved to 2-1 in RSC play.
Emily Armstrong (SO/New Kensington, Pa.) was the No. 1 singles winner, defeating Drayan Johnson, 6-1, 6-0. Jen Wright (SR/Wexford, Pa.) earned the win in the toughest fought match of the day, beating Kat Lawless, 7-6, 6-2, at No. 2. singles. Justina Jacquillard (SO/Scottdale, Pa.) was victorious at No. 3 singles, beating Emily Miller, 6-0, 6-2. MaryKathryn Hankewycz (FR/Irwin, Pa.) defeated Erinn Bailey, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 4 singles. Melanie Long (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) shut out Kaylee Dickson in the No. 5 singles contest, 6-0, 6-0. Julianna Mamajek (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) won the No. 6 singles match, 6-1, 6-0, against Javon Graham.
In doubles action, Armstrong and Jacquillard battled past Johnson and Lawless, 8-5, at No. 1. Wright and Hankewycz handled Miller and Graham, 8-0, at No. 2. Long and Mamajek notched an 8-0 win against Bailey and Dickson at No. 3.
The Celtics next play at Indiana University East at noon Sunday.
