The Carlow women’s basketball team wrapped up its regular season with a pair of losses to West Virginia Tech and University of Rio Grande (Ohio) on a weekend road trip.
The Celtics (10-18/1-16 RSC) fell, 72-58, to the Golden Bears (19-11/10-7 RSC) on Friday and, 63-44, to the RedStorm (19-11/10-7 RSC) on Saturday.
Alexis Yanief (JR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) led the Celtics in scoring in both contests, with 21 points against WVU Tech and 13 against Rio Grande.
Emma Stille (FR/Columbus, Ohio) led Carlow in rebounding for the weekend. She had eight rebounds with five points against WVU Tech, and 11 boards with 8 points and two blocks against Rio Grande.
Carlow started the weekend with some shooting woes against the Golden Bears and it got worse against the RedStorm. The Celtics hit 32.7 percent (17-52) from the floor and 26.9 percent (7-26) from 3 against WVU Tech, and 17.5 percent (11-63) from the floor and 5.9 percent (1-17) from 3 against Rio Grande.
Against the Golden Bears, Noelle Vallimont (JR/Erie, Pa.) had eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. Reanna Turner (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) added three assists.
Against the RedStorm, Vallimont had eight points, four steals and two blocks. Mariah Evans (FR/Beaver Falls, Pa.) had eight points and four blocks.
