Celtics drop two on RSC road trip


The Carlow women’s basketball team was out-shot in two River States Conference losses on a weekend road trip Friday and Saturday.

The Celtics (6-9/0-7/6-1) fell to Ohio Christian University, 67-43, in Circleville, and then to No. 21 Indiana University East, 80-61, in Richmond.

Against OCU, Emma Stille (FR/Columbus, Ohio) led Carlow with nine points, nine rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block. Mariah Evans (FR/Beaver Falls, Pa.) added eight points and five rebounds, and Noelle Vallimont (JR/Erie, Pa.) had seven rebounds.

The Trailblazers went 26 of 56 shooting (46.4 percent) and 7 of 17 from three (41.2 percent), while the Celtics made 15 of 61 percent (24.6 percent) from the floor and 3 of 16 treys (18.8 percent).

Stille posted her sixth double double of the season against IU East, tallying 10 points and 11 rebounds, with five steals, three assists and two blocks.

Reanna Turner (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) led the Celtics in scoring, with 17 points. Alexis Yanief (JR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) added 16 points and three assists, and Vallimont added seven steals and three assists.

The Red Wolves went 32 of 59 shooting (54.2 percent), while the Celtics converted 25 of 72 (34.7 percent).

Carlow hosts Penn State Beaver at 7:30 pm Tuesday. The contest is a rematch of a 65-53 Carlow victory on November 20.
