The Carlow women’s basketball team dominated Penn State Greater Allegheny, 78-50, on Tuesday, December 6, at Oakland Catholic High School.
The Celtics jumped to an 11-3 lead on 11 straight points by Emma Stille (FR/Columbus, Ohio) and never looked back. Carlow led, 25-8, after the first quarter, and 36-20, at halftime.
Stille had 15 points and eight rebounds in just nine minutes of action in the first half, and finished the game with 21 points and 16 rebounds, including nine offensive rebounds, in 20 minutes of play. She went 9 of 15 shooting from the field.
The Celtics had a significant height advantage over the Lions at every position and capitalized on it, outrebounding Greater Allegheny, 62-22.
Mariah Evans (FR/Beaver Falls, Pa.) also had a double-double for Carlow, with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Alexis Yanief (JR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) had 11 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Noelle Vallimont (JR/Erie, Pa.) tossed eight assists.
The Lions were led by Mandi Johnston (14 points), Ronnie Upsher (13 points) and Jess Manfredi (12 points).
The victory moved the Celtics' overall record to 5-2 and their USCAA record to 5-1. They are 0-2 in the River States Conference.
Carlow next plays Saturday at Malone University.
