Celtics drop home opener to WVU Tech


The Carlow men’s basketball team dropped its River States Conference and home opener, 90-68, to WVU Tech, on Friday, December 2, at Oakland Catholic High School.

The Celtics (0-9/0-1) hung with the Golden Bears for half of the first half before WVU Tech took a 48-26 lead to halftime.

The Golden Bears (4-3/1-0) won the game inside, outrebounding Carlow, 47-26. They also got a standout performance from Kievonn Banks, who scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.

Carlow had four players in double figures. Jacob St. George (SO/Monaca, Pa.) posted 15 points and four rebounds. Charlie Scharbo (JR/Jefferson Hills, Pa.) added 15 points, PJ McLaughlin (SR/Irwin, Pa.) 11 and Zach Bryan (JR/Irwin, Pa.) 10.

The Celtics look to rebound when they host the University of Rio Grande on Saturday.
