UPJ wins boards, game against Celtics

The Carlow men’s basketball team continued its difficult early season schedule on Wednesday, November 16, with a 99-68 loss to University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

The NCAA Division II Mountain Cats were too much for Carlow to handle around the basket, outrebounding the Celtics, 48-22. UPJ also had five double-digit scorers in their balanced attack.

The Celtics (0-6/0-0 RSC) were led by Zack Taylor (SR/Pittsburgh, Pa.), with 17 points and four steals. Charlie Scharbo (JR/Jefferson Hills, Pa.) had 13 points and team-leading four rebounds. Jacob St. George (SO*/Monaca, Pa.) added 10 points. Zach Bryan (JR/Irwin, Pa.) had three assists and five steals.

The Celtics next play at Lock Haven University on Tuesday, November 22.
