Celtics finish 11th in RSC Men’s Golf Fall Preview


Point Park University won the team title at the River States Conference Men’s lf Fall Preview Tournament held Monday and Tuesday, at Lassing Pointe Golf Course, in Union, Ky. Point Park and WVU Tech were tied at 919 (+67) after the match, and the Pioneers edged the Golden Bears in a playoff.

Carlow University finished in 11th place, with a team score of 1,212. The Celtics were led by Jake St. George (Monaca, PA), who finished in 54th place at 268 (86-97-85). Carlow played its best golf in the final round of three in the match.

“We saw improvement each day,” Carlow head coach Ryan Shank said. “The men represented Carlow well and I’m proud of the way they battled.”

The RSC Fall Preview is a prelude to the conference championship tournament to be held this coming spring. The course was par 71 and 6,724 yards.

Point Park’s Max Kaminsky earned the individual medalist honor with a 56-hole score of 218 (74-73-71). Taylor Suggs, of Cincinnati Christian took second with a score of 223 (77-73-73).

Brescia placed third in the team standings, followed by Asbury, Ohio Christian, Cincinnati Christian, Indiana University East, Indiana University Kokomo, Midway, Alice Lloyd and Carlow.

The RSC Men’s Golf Championship Tournament will be held this spring at the same site. The team champion and individual medalist will quality for the NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship May 16-19 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.
