The Carlow University men’s soccer team went to double overtime with Midway before falling, 3-2, in a battle of two first-year River States Conference programs on Saturday, Oct. 8.
Nai Mayen (JR/Syracuse, NY) put Carlow on the board first, with a goal in the fifth minute, assisted by Cameron Stablein (JR/Pittsburgh, PA).
Carlos Pinto tied the contest with a Midway goal in the 47th minute, assisted by Max Bristow.
Defender and captain Dan Nicolaus (JR/Gainesville, FL) scored the first goal of his Carlow career to retake the lead in the 67th minute.
However, Midway’s Brad Wilson scored in the 79th minute to force overtime, and then scored the game winner in the 108th minute of play.
Carlow goalkeeper Kosi Agbevor (JR/Brooklyn, NY) faced 24 shots and made six saves. Christian Neira made three saves for Midway (4-4-1/3-2).
For Carlow, the contest wrapped up a road trip to Kentucky, which included a 3-1 loss to Brescia. The Celtics (2-6/0-4/2-0) next host Ohio Christian University, on Thursday, Oct. 13.
