Agbevor, Celtics shut out Villa Maria in second win

The Carlow men’s soccer team earned the second win in program history Saturday, Sept. 24, against Villa Maria College. The Celtics shut out the Vikings, 1-0, in a USCAA match, in Erie, Pa.

Goalkeeper Kosi Agbevor (JR/Brooklyn, NY) came up with three saves in his shutout, including one in the 86th minute to prevent a potential overtime.

The Celtics (2-2/0-0/1-0) played a strong offensive game, earning 33 shots and controlling possession most of the match.

It was Cameron Stablein (JR/Pittsburgh, PA) who was able to connect, assisted by Nai Mayen (JR/Syracuse, NY), in the second minute. His goal, his career first, held as the game-winner.

The Celtics next open River States Conference play in their next contest, hosting Cincinnati Christian on Thursday, Sept. 29.
