GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Carlow University men’s golf team
played its first first-ever match Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the 2016 Grove City College
Fall Men’s Invitational at the Grove City Country Club.
The Celtics, coached by Ryan Shank, scored 422 and finished seventh out of eight teams on the
par-72 course. Nate Bell (SO/Aliquippa, PA) was Carlow’s top finisher, shooting
90 to finish 28th. Jacob St. George (SO/Monaca, PA) shot 93 and
finished 30th. Zach Talley (JR/Finleyville, PA) shot 114, and
finished tied for 36th. Brian Ziegler (FR/West Mifflin, PA) shot 125

It was the second time in the fall of 2016 that a men’s team
made Carlow history. The men’s soccer team played its first-ever match Sept. 9.
Talley also made history by being the first Carlow men’s
athlete to participate in three intercollegiate sports. Talley, a member of the
Celtics’ basketball team, also took the field for the soccer team in its first competition.
St. Vincent College won the team championship, scoring 313. The Grove City A team was the runner-up, at 315. Ben Biss, of St. Vincent, was the individual champion, with a 75. Jason Thorp, of Thiel, shot 76 to finish as the individual runner-up.
The Carlow women’s team plays for the first time in the 2016 Grove
City College Fall Women’s Invitational, on Friday, Sept. 16, at 1pm. The men are back in action Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the Penn
State New Kensington Invitational.
