July 16, 17, and 18, 2013
Summer Science Nation is a three-day workshop for high school girls interested in science and exploring diverse career options in research, pharmaceuticals, education and the biomedical industry.
NEW THIS YEAR: 3-day workshop includes one night* spent in the Carlow dorms! (night of Wednesday, July 17). Cost includes the 3-day workshop, all off- campus transportation, a T-shirt, a journal, continental breakfasts and lunches and dinner (July 10), activities and residence hall during the overnight portion.
*A Carlow University graduate resident assistant will be with your students for the night.
Science in Action
Summer Science Nation
is a program
that introduces you to career options in science. Through hands-on lab experiments, field trips to Pittsburgh's research and industry facilities, and meetings with scientists in the field, you'll see the broad range of opportunities in science that are available—and meet women succeeding in these careers. You'll also meet other girls, like you, who want to explore a future in science.
Science in College
Summer Science Nation participants have experiences that give them an advantage when applying to college,
- Hands-on science workshops in chemistry, biology, physics, and microbiology
- Field trips:
–Brains, hearts, and
eyeballs dissection lab
–The National Aviary
–The McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine
–Heinz Innovation Center
- Meetings with professional researchers, scientists, and educators
- Tips for college
Open to all high school girls entering grades 9-12, interested in science, and exploring diverse career options in education, research, pharmaceuticals, and the biomedical industry.
