Women of Spirit Institute's ECO Camp
July 16, 17, and 18, 2013
ECO Camp (Environmental Career Opportunities) focuses on three core themes that students interested in pursuing careers in Environmental and Green science should be familiar with: Environment, Energy and Sustainability.
NEW THIS YEAR: 3-day workshop includes one night* spent in the Carlow dorms! (night of Wednesday, July 17). Cost includes the 3-day workshop, all off- campus transportation, a T-shirt, a journal, continental breakfasts and lunches and dinner (July 10), activities and residence hall during the overnight portion.
*A Carlow University graduate resident assistant will be with your students for the night.
Science and the Environment
ECO Camp is a three-day program that introduces you to "green" careers. Through hands-on labs, seminars, and field trips to Pittsburgh locations where environmentally friendly work is being done, you'll discover the broad range of opportunities in these booming fields. You'll also meet other girls like you who are eager to explore creative ways they can improve and sustain the health of the planet through fields like science, art, conservation, and industry.
"Green" Studies in College
ECO Camp participants enjoy experiences that give them an advantage when applying to college, such as:
- Seminars with scientists, conservationists, researchers, and environmentally friendly entrepreneurs
- Trips for college preparation
- Field trips
- Hands-on activities and labs
- Green chemistry lab
- New Science, Green Discoveries Scavenger Hunt
Open to all high school girls entering grades 9-12 interested in investigating environmental careers.
