Study Abroad Mentor Program

We recruit mentors for each semester! The goal of the program is to pair up study abroad alum with prospective study abroad students.

How Can I Participate?

Fire Monument

By participating in this program, you are asked to meet with your mentee at least once a month for about an hour. You are expected to discuss studying abroad in general, offering advice and answering the mentees questions as best you can. You will serve as a valuable resource to a prospective study abroad student because you can directly relate to their nervousness, concerns, excitement, etc. Furthermore, you can offer specific suggestions and advice if your mentee will be studying in the same city/country/or region as you did.

You will be encouraged to attend fun cultural activities with your mentee. These are group activities that are designed to connect students together in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.

Along with monthly meetings, you will be asked to post on the Blackboard discussion forum about your experiences in the Mentor Program so that you can talk with other mentors.

The program is really fun and a great way for you to connect with other students who have similar interests (i.e. interested in traveling, study abroad, culture, etc.) Additionally, this program is a great resume builder if you need something else to add your credentials!

Think of this program as a way to help yourself (you get to share your experience and knowledge to add to your resume) AND as a way to help someone else with their study abroad process and experience.
