MBA Program - Bejing, China
(for Carlow and non-Carlow students)

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Forbidden City - China
Forbidden City

Every summer, Carlow MBA students take an international trip as part of the Global Business course. In summer 2011, we’re going to China!

China, one of the fastest growing markets in the world, is also a key player in the global supply chain. On this trip students will visit companies in Beijing, and meet local managers and business scholars. The group will also attend seminars on strategic and operational issues of doing business in China.

As part of coursework, the group will also explore important historical sites such as the Great Wall and Forbidden City. The program is hosted by Tsinghua University, the MIT of China.

Although this trip is part of MBA 738: Global Business, all Carlow graduate students are welcome to join us!

COURSES

MBA 738 – Global Business
This course examines selected topics in conducting business in a global setting. We begin with the forces that determine the globalization of a firm and industry. This analysis leads us to further examination of nation-specific, region-specific, industry-specific, and firm-specific factors that determine the success of global business. To apply these theoretical frameworks, we will look at a country or region in depth and analyze its economy, institutions, industries and firms. We then develop a basic conceptual framework to formulate strategy to conduct business in that particular country or region. 3 credits
