Information Technology and Management Major (ITM)

The Bachelor of Science degree in information technology and management (ITM) is a specialized, interdisciplinary program of study. It emphasizes a management approach to the integration of technology within organizations. Skills acquired in this program prepare students for management, network and database administration, web development, or analyst positions in institutions relying on computerized data for their information needs. In addition, these skills can be used to enhance performance in all academic disciplines. Students in the program can prepare for the A+ and Network+ certification exams. The program can also serve as a basis for further graduate study in information science, library science, Industrial administration, or business administration.

Major Requirements: Areas of study in the information technology and management major include computer literacy and office productivity applications, user support/technology, systems analysis and databases, network administration, business management, and communications. Students must take at least 15 courses in these areas chosen in consultation with an information technology and management advisor.

Information Systems Management Minor

Minor Requirements: 18 credits

A minor in information technology and management can be pursued by a student with specific interests in this area. A student must complete six information technology and management (ITM) courses (18 credits), including IM 200, IM 215, and IM 320. Other courses should be chosen in consultation with an information technology and management advisor.

Information Technology and Management Certificate

Certification Requirements: 18 credits

An Information Technology and Management (ITM) Certificate can be earned by a non-matriculated student who has an interest in enhancing his/her career potential. Six ITM courses (18 credits) are required for the certificate, including IM 200, IM 215, and IM 320. Other courses must be chosen in consultation with an ITM advisor. Some courses are offered in an online format, thus offering convenience and flexibility to students.
