Elementary teachers are prepared to teach children from kindergarten through grade six in all the areas of the basic education curriculum. Elementary education students should plan a liberal arts minor or several coordinated course sequences in the liberal arts.
Elementary education students are encouraged to complete either the early childhood or special education programs if they wish to broaden their professional preparation to include specialized work with younger or educationally challenged children.
