Anastasia Tereshko is currently working on her MFA in Creative Writing at Carlow University. Her poetry is often influenced by her sixteen years of ballet experience.
Adagio
her foot slides into coupe,
pulls up to passé into an extension of leg,
hamstring tight,
hip drops into turnout,
revealing a crescent arch in her foot,
leg slowly turning to arabesque,
toes raised higher than the arch,
holding eight counts until the pain,
penché, a split in the air of legs
perfectly balanced.
