Katherine Bahr Hensler ’38 celebrated her 90th birthday in October 2006. She and her husband, married for 63 years until his death in April 26, 2004, have fi ve children and nine grandchildren.
Sister Catherine Paumier, VHM ’56, who celebrated her 50-year class reunion with her classmates at the Twentieth Century Club on September 30, 2006, was awarded the Carlow University Alumnae/i Service Award for Education at the Reunion Weekend luncheon. Also joining Sister Catherine “Kay” was a table full of her colleagues and friends from Mount de Chantal Visitation Academy, Wheeling, West Virginia.
Dorothy Flaherty Weldon ’59 was elected the national president of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, the largest Irish Catholic organization in the U.S., at the 2006 National AOH/LAOH Convention in Boston, Mass.
Grace Ann Geibel, RSM ’61 was recently named by Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell to the five-member fiscal oversight board for Pittsburgh. Sister Grace Ann replaces Duquesne University Chancellor John E. Murray on the state-appointed Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority.
Carolann Douglass Cannon ’62 is currently teaching on-line courses for catechist training for the Institute for Pastoral Initiatives at the University of Dayton. Her students come from all over the world.
Nancy Minadeo Flanigan ’64 gave a “shower” for women in the states hit by Katrina. Her friends sent $495 in checks and 178 new pieces of underwear and socks, along with seven shopping bags filled with personal care items. She did this through her affiliation with Mt. St. Agnes Theological Center for Women in September and October 2005.
Sylvia Spincic Danehy ’65 received the Robert P. Blume, Humanitarian Award from the Myasthenia Gravis Association of Western Pennsylvania for her years of service as a volunteer to her community and for her work as a member of the board of directors.
Barbara Peitz Guger ’65 is a storyteller at the Rainbow Connection Day Care Center in Murrysville, Pa. She is a member of Storyworks, which hosts “Tellebration,” an international storytelling event at local schools and communities.

Sister Mary Cabrini Procopio, CSSF ’65 is serving as vicar general of the Congregation of Sisters in Rome. She is now the Number Two Sister in the entire Roman Catholic religious order of the Felician Sisters.
Janet DiPasquale Simon, PhD ’67 was named an Athena Award finalist for leadership, community service, and mentorship by the Allegheny Conference on Community Development. She was the keynote speaker at the first “Together ‘We Matter’” networking event at Carlow University on September 28, 2006.
Ann Carville, OSF, PhD ’68, the superior general of the congregation of the Sisters of St. Francis of Millvale, has recently joined Gateway Rehabilitation Center’s board of directors.
Jane Clair Martin-Blount ’69 has been the director of Lake Washington Singers (founded in 1952) since 2000. This non-audition women’s chorus funds three scholarships for Seattle, Wash., high school music students. She is also composing songs.
Ellen Cupka Servis ’70 retired from the state of New Jersey, Office of the Public Defender after 32 years. She was a senior trial attorney and, for the last five years, was director of the ISP unit.
Sister Gloria Rubio ’71 received a proclamation from the governor of Maryland commissioning her as a member of the State Board of Nursing, in Annapolis in August 2005.
Celeste Calfe ’74, the owner of a human resources consulting firm, Calfe and Associates, is currently serving as president of the Association of Career Firms of North America, a regulatory association for the human resources consulting industry.

Lisa Paugh-Mathey ’88 was named to the Advocacy and Resource and Support committees for Virginia’s State Foster Care, Adoption, and Kinship Families Association. Paugh-Mathey will be working closely with Virginia representatives and foster care/adoption organizations to craft legislation that supports foster care and adoptive families across the state. She will also identify resources and develop support systems for post-adoptive placements. Her terms on both committees began in October of 2006.

She holds a master’s degree in public health from the University of Pittsburgh, and an MD from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in 2000.
