The Grace Ann Geibel Institute for Justice and Social Responsibility

Our Guiding Principles

Our Purpose
The purpose of the Carlow University Grace Ann Geibel Institute for Justice and Social Responsibility is to develop a women-centered approach to leadership that seeks to challenge systemic oppression by engaging students, faculty, staff and community in research, education and service learning, and outreach.

Our Vision
The Institute is guided by the mission, history, and traditions of Carlow University and its founders/sponsors, the Sisters of Mercy. Its operation is rooted in the principle of academic freedom, and it primarily values the pursuit of knowledge and praxis related to the exploration of the general question of "What makes a just society?"
