There are three easy steps to attend Commencement:

1) RSVP (November 5-30)
2) Buy your cap and gown
Pick up your honors cord (only undergrads who earned honors)
3) Invite your family and friends!

The RSVP is open 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 5 until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 30.  There will be a link to the RSVP on the Commencement home page.

Caps & Gowns
Bachelor's and Master's gowns can be purchased at the bookstore beginning the first day of the grad fair until December 7.  Doctoral gowns must be ordered by October 13. See Grad Fair page or call the bookstore at 412-578-6164 for more information.

Honors Cords

Undergraduates who earned honors will receive a letter by November 6 indicating which honors designation they earned (cum laude, magna cum laude, summa cum laude).  These students will pick up their honors cords at the bookstore.  Students who are unable to get their honors cords prior to Commencement can pick them up at their check-in table on graduation day.

Those who feel they have earned honors but did not receive a letter by November 8 should contact Academic Affairs at 412-578-6182 or commencement@carlow.edu.  NOTE: Latin Honors for Commencement are calculated before the last semester's grades are submitted.

Guests and Ticket Distribution

All guests attending Commencement must present a ticket.  Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.  Graduates who RSVP within the deadline may have up to six guests and may request 2 extra tickets on the RSVP form(extra tickets not guaranteed).

General Information

• Doors will open one hour prior to the ceremony.
• No one may enter or exit the auditorium during the graduates’ procession, the Invocation or President's Welcome.
• Latecomers will be seated at the commencement staff’s discretion.
• Open strollers are not permitted in the auditorium.
