Snow/Bad Weather Closing Information

Please note the following with regard to Carlow University’s school closing procedures. 

Media Outlets

The following media outlets will be notified should bad weather force a cancellation or early closing of Carlow University: The decision to close school for the entire day will be made by the Provost by 6am. For closing of school related to afternoon/evening classes, the decision will be made by the Provost by 2pm.

Carlow Campus School and the Carlow Early Learning Center (Child Care) will be closed at all times the University is closed for bad weather, however there may be times when the Carlow Campus School is closed and the University and Early Learning Center (Child Care) remain open. It is critical that you monitor the following media outlets for information on closings:

Internal Communication

  • Carlow Bad Weather Closing Information - 412-578-6677 or x6677 from internal phones
  • Carlow Web Site Home Page will announce closure and provide a link if more information is necessary.
  • Carlow E-2Campus text message will be sent to all participants

Essential Offices

Essential offices of the University must remain open while school is closed for bad weather.  The essential offices of the University are:

  • Food Services
  • Facilities
  • Campus Police

Please know that we will do everything possible to ensure the safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff during bad weather.  If there is an emergency during such times, please contact campus police at x6007.
