Liberal Arts Inquiry (LAI) Courses

One course in each of the specified disciplines is required. These eleven LAI areas were chosen to give students a broad understanding of the liberal arts. A strong Liberal Arts education enables students to explore ideas and theories f rom a variety of disciplines in the arts, humanities, mathematics, natural sciences, and social and behavioral sciences.

Courses approved as LAI courses will have the following notations:

  • Economics/Political Science (E)
  • Fine Arts (F)
  • Global Perspectives and Languages (G)
  • History (H)
  • Literary Arts (L)
  • Mathematics (M)
  • Natural Sciences (N)
  • Philosophy (P)
  • Social and Behavioral Sciences (S)
  • Theology (T)
  • Women’s Studies (W)
