PH 210 Biomedical Ethics
Study of the perplexing ethical problems of life science, biomedical research, and health care policy. Fulfills PH and PJ core requirements. 3 credits

PH 211 Applied Biomedical Ethics
Advanced study of ethical issues in the health sciences. Focuses on case studies and contemporary articles. Prerequisite: PH 210. 3 credits

PH 212 Existentialism
Consideration of the human condition and the notion of morality through the works of existentialists such as Dostoevski, Nietzsche, and Sartre. 3 credits

PH 301 Modern Philosophy
Introduction to the work of philosophers of the modern era such as Descartes, Spinoza, and Leibnitz. 3 credits

PH 302 Contemporary Philosophy
Introduction to the major philosophers and philosophical movements of the contemporary era. May include analytic philosophy, psychoanalysis, phenomenology, structuralism, semiotics, and deconstruction. 3 credits

PH 305 Philosophy of Science
Considerations of the major problems affecting the assumptions, methodologies, and conclusions of the social and natural sciences. 3 credits

PH 306 American Philosophy
Introduction to the work of American philosophers, including Emerson, Santayana, Pierce, James, and Dewey. 3 credits

PH 308 Philosophy and Psychology
A study of emotions and symptoms, mind and body, as well as other problems shared by philosophers, psychologists, and post-Freudian feminists. 3 credits

PH 309 Nursing and Ethics
Interdisciplinary investigation of practical ethical issues and moral dilemmas met by nurses and other health care professionals. 3 credits

PH 312 Philosophical Foundations of Education
A study of the major philosophers who shaped education theory, including Plato, Herbert, and Dewey. 3 credits

An in-depth study of the philosophical system of an individual philosopher such as Plato, Kant, Sartre, Freud, or Irigaray. 3 credits
