Special Services
- Special services are often available for students who have barriers to attending the program. Child care, both day and evening are available at certain locations. In addition, transportation and family support services are offered if available.
- Tuition Aid and Scholarship funds are often available to offer assistance to students who need "getting started" money for such items as book reimbursement.
Additional Services & Activities
All workshops and programs are available to all present and past New Choices/New Options students.
- Higher Education/Financial Aid - A financial aid officer from a local institute of higher education will present opportunities for financial aid. CLEP information is explained in this session and a group is then formed to study for this test if necessary. It is suggested that all new participants attend the financial aid workshop. It is anticipated that 25 students in each fiscal year will pursue taking the CLEP. Individual assistance in completing PELL/PHEA forms is available by appointment. Special scholarship information is also available at this session.
- Interactive Communication Workshops - This is a five-part (17 1/2 hours) series of professional communication training provided on Saturday mornings by DDI, Inc. (Development Dimensions International, Inc.) The sessions are entitled Making the Difference, Communication with Others, Influencing Others, Handling Conflict and Managing Change.
