Carlow University softball began as an intercollegiate sport in 1997. After winning the American Mideast Conference Championship in 2011, the final Spring for the AMC, the team now competes in the NAIA as a member of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (KIAC) and also in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), a national organization for small colleges, as an Independent.
Although the team conditions year-round, including "Fall Ball," Carlow’s official spring training begins in March when the team typically travels south to locations in Florida or South Carolina. Home games are played at Fairhaven Park in Kennedy Township. The team competes in at least 35 competitions per season and has post-season play opportunities in both the KIAC and USCAA.
