  • Prepare to Care is a summer workshop for high school girls who are interested in healthcare professions and want to explore college life. Carlow University specifically designed this interactive program to give girls a hands-on experience and a rare glimpse into a field that may be perfect for them.

  • PREPARE TO CARE: July 7, 8, and 9, 2015

    This 3-day workshop includes two nights* spent in the Carlow dorms! Cost includes the three-day workshop, all off-campus transportation, a T-shirt, a journal, continental breakfasts and lunches and dinner, activities and residence hall during the overnight portion.    

    Explore—Your Professional and College Life

    This three-day workshop introduces you to careers in the fields of health care and health sciences. It is open to all high school girls entering grades 9-12 interested in exploring the healthcare professions.

    Healthcare educators and professionals recommend you gain as much hands-on experience as possible— and Carlow University's workshop delivers. During Prepare to Care, you will meet with faculty members, nurses, and other healthcare specialists, researchers, tour healthcare facilities, and learn nursing essentials in Carlow's state-of-the-art Nursing Skills Lab.

    Hands-on Workshops/Activities

    As a Prepare to Care participant, you will have experiences that will give you advantages when you apply to college, such as:

    • Observe an open-heart surgery
    • Work in dissection and anatomy labs
    • Care for "patients" in Carlow's cutting-edge simulation lab
    • Explore a local hospital
    • Participate in hands-on lab activities with Carlow faculty
    • Tips for college preparation
