Our communication programs offer you a focus on creative thinking, and grounded in social justice, you'll study multiple areas of discipline, arming you with the knowledge and skills that are in demand now.
Your Communication courses will equip you with skills in problem-solving, team-building, and critical thinking - skills that employers want. You will also engage in exciting out-of-class learning experiences (see Highlights, below). You'll work with a Communication faculty of dedicated, award-winning individuals who are experts in their fields and who offer caring support as mentors and academic advisors.
Professor Michael Balmert, PhD
is teaching the new Leadership and Social Change Capstone course. It is a community-based course working in partnership with the Center That CARES
in Pittsburgh’s Hill District and the Social Justice Institutes
on asset mapping surrounding the issue of gun violence in the Hill District.
Rachel Furman is Chair of the Communication Centers Section of the National Communication Association
beginning in November 2017.The Hopkins Communication Lab
offers students ability to use state of the art equipment. It also offers work experience as tutors. According to Rachel Furman, Director of the Hopkins Lab, 100% of lab tutors are either employed in their field or in graduate school upon graduation.
